Finding Purpose, Love, and Hope at Mary’s Refuge
When you talk to the moms at Mary’s Refuge, you’ll quickly realize that each story is one of resilience, faith, and unconditional love. One mother shared her journey with us—a story that beautifully captures what it means to choose life, embrace motherhood, and find hope in a season of change.
When asked why she chose life for her baby, her answer came straight from the heart. “I chose life for my baby because, as a mother already having a 13-month-old at the time, I couldn’t imagine not keeping his sibling,” she said. “They will grow, learn, and make memories together—and to me, that is the most precious thing about life. They will have each other.”
For her, motherhood is not just a role—it’s part of who she is. “Being a mother to me is like having oxygen to breathe—I need them, and I know they need me,” she shared. While she admits that being a single mother of two can be challenging, her gratitude for her children shines through every word. “I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.”
Motherhood, she explains, has transformed her from the inside out. “It shaped and molded me into becoming the woman I needed to be—not only for myself but for them,” she said. “I already had the drive and ambition, but at times I would give up easily or feel very discouraged. Now, when I face challenges, I take them head-on. I keep pushing. I never give up.”
Her strength comes from a place of deep love and purpose. “Even on my worst days, they ignite that strength in me. I brush it off, wipe my tears, and keep going.”
And when it comes to the role Mary’s Refuge has played in her journey, her gratitude is unmistakable. “Mary’s Refuge gave me another chance at life—to sit down with myself, get away from distractions, and focus on bettering myself and my babies,” she reflected. “Being here was the best decision I made for us. The love and support we’ve received is unconditional and inspiring. It’s a safe haven to raise and nurture your babies.”
