DUTIES:
The House Mom provides daily supervision, guidance, and support to residents of Mary’s Refuge. This role ensures the home operates safely, smoothly, and with dignity, fostering growth, responsibility, and respect among residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor security system, access control, visitor logs, and security cameras.
- Conduct daily room checks and weekly inspections for cleanliness and compliance.
- Maintain and update chore charts; train residents in cleaning methods and appliance use.
- Work collaboratively with the House Manager and Case Manager to support residents in goal setting and transitional planning.
- Oversee daily home operations to ensure safety, order, and cleanliness.
- Teach and model household management, life skills, and basic parenting skills.
- Run group sessions focused on life skills, parenting, and peer recovery.
- Assign and track Bright Course lessons; report non-compliance to case workers.
- Conduct discharge cleanings and launder/return loaned items.
- Maintain inventory of household, room, and boutique supplies; order weekly.
- Organize, sort, and manage donation inventory; fulfill boutique requests.
- Plan and coordinate quarterly deep cleaning of the home with residents.
- Provide emergency transportation and assist with daycare coverage as needed.
- Answer phones, monitor voicemails, and coordinate intake calls with case workers.
- Pick up mail; maintain guest log, calendars, and internal records.
- Participate in and lead house meetings, tours, and resident activities.
- Decorate and maintain a welcoming home atmosphere aligned with seasonal events.
- Maintain professional boundaries with residents while providing consistent support.
- Foster a culture of dignity, respect, and accountability.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Commitment to pro-life values and the Christian mission of Mary’s Refuge.
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer proficiency and valid driver’s license.
- Willing to work some evenings or weekends for church or community events.
- Case work or social work experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs.
