A Mother’s Journey at Mary’s Refuge
Motherhood has a way of transforming lives, and the story of one mother at Mary’s Refuge is a powerful reminder of that truth. When asked why she chose life for her baby, her perspective was profound: “I don’t look at it like I chose life for my baby. I think he chose me.”
For her, being a mother isn’t just a role—it’s a source of light and joy. “Being a mother is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is literally my light in the darkness. He gives me hope and strength to get through the day. He is my whole heart. I am grateful for him every day. He is my happiness,” she shared.
Motherhood has also brought out a new level of determination and growth. “It’s given me strength. I push myself more to be better and to do better for my son. I’ve accomplished so much in the last few months, more than I have in the last couple of years. I became a better version of myself,” she reflected.
The impact of Mary’s Refuge on her journey has been life-changing. Facing homelessness at eight months pregnant was terrifying. “Never in my life have I been in a situation like that. I only had a short amount of time to find a place, and I thought I had exhausted all my options. I was beginning to lose hope. Then Mary’s Refuge fell into my lap. It was like faith. I was beyond grateful,” she said.
Her story is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of community. At Mary’s Refuge, mothers find not only a safe place to live but also the encouragement and support they need to grow, heal, and embrace the joy of motherhood.
