November 9th marked a triumphant day for Mary’s Refuge Maternity Home.
On November 9th, our home witnessed the arrival of Giovanni at 10:04 a.m. A healthy baby boy weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 19 inches—a testament to the love and care that envelops Mary’s Refuge.
In another uplifting moment, a resilient young mother achieved a significant milestone. She earned her certification as a life coach from Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, showcasing her dedication to building a stable life for both herself and her precious infant son.
The day reached its pinnacle with the gathering of nearly 200 hearts at our second annual gala, held at the Hilton Garden Inn Martinsburg. The proceeds from this enchanting evening will be directed towards vital aspects—building maintenance, food and clothing necessities, utilities, transportation, and staffing.
At Mary’s Refuge, our 501(c)(3) ministry, in partnership with St. Joseph Parish and the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, stands as a pro-life haven—a gateway to motherhood. We provide unwavering emotional, physical, and spiritual support to women as they navigate the profound challenges of pregnancy and child rearing.
These triumphs illuminate the essence of our mission—nurturing and empowering women on their unique journeys.

Tiffany’s Story
“Mary’s Refuge is the first stable home I have ever had, a safe space to raise my 2-month-old son, Jaxen. He has two brothers, ages 17 and 10, who came into the world while I was addicted to heroin and incapable of raising them. They were taken from me, so they don’t know me at all. I will not let history repeat itself with Jaxen.”
Tiffany, a newly certified life coach, embarked on a transformative journey this month, delving into classes at Blue Ridge CTC as she pursues a degree in addictions counseling.
“My passion is helping people who are in the same situation as I was. I want to be the trusted person they need to get them on a positive path, the person I wish I had in my life at my lowest points.
Mary’s Refuge saved my life and gave my son everything he needs. This place, these people, restored my hope in humanity. It really IS this good.”
